How can we figure out what is it that we want from our lives?
How can we expect the world to behave in a way we see fit?
the answer is exactly what you think it is. If you are expecting a straight forward solution to the dilemma above, well sadly there is none. But on the other hand isn’t it a good thing to not have any ready-made, add hot water and serve recipe solutions in life? If all came to him automatically, if without any efforts he got everything he wished, man would then forget one very important thing in that case, he would definitely loose passion.
Because it is for the want of something we pursue our dreams, look up to that maslows hierarchy of needs, and you can see all your demands fall into those stupid categories. Its not the achievements that matter most but its the journey that brings out the fun. Everyone wants to be a pilot or an actor in their childhood, but very few stick to it and make it happen. Others on the other hand keep going on and decide what they want as a result of what is actually needed.
There are two kinds of people who look to these things in two entirely different ways.
Firstly, we have the believers, the ones who focus on what they do and what they wanna achieve and make sure they get there.
and secondly there are the ones who move on! The reasons for these migration of aims and needs can be many, there might be economical reasons, family problems, time management etc.etc. But all these factors build up and shove people off from their destined path in life and hence they take up easier and the more obvious pathways to earn.
If we knew our future would we still keep doing what we are doing now? wouldn’t every decision we made, change our future? Therefore our future is what we make of it.
To all of those who think that they have lost hope into pursuing their dreams in whichever field, then it might be a specific art, a dream job, a dream career whatever you can or have thought of, I would therefore say don’t let go! There might be opportunities that might still be lurking around the corner and just before you are going to get them you loose hope and give up.
Its like planting a seed, how do you go about it? You toss a bean in the ground, sprinkle water, wriggle your fingers at it and out pops a beanstalk! wow wouldn’t that be something huh? Farmers would be superheroes in that case, but no, most of us stop watering the seed just before the germinated leaflets are about to hit the surface from below the ground.
To make sure that tree grows you gotta be patient. but to expect patience in every case is idiotic, Imagine you’re in a hospital, granny’s not well, doctor says we need to operate her and you’ve gotta deposit a certain amount and you tell the doc; “Man listen I’ve got this really great opportunity coming right up and when it does I’m gonna be a millionaire and then I can pay you!” The sick granny will come out and kick you in the shin!
Jokes apart.
Look at almost every father and in his eyes you can definitely see that he had to let go of his own personal dreams to make sure he went into a monotonous job that provided steady money for the family. This is a world wide phenomenon, and one should not feel lost if he has to sacrifice his personal aspirations to purposely lie to himself and choose something that is good for his stable future.
Money! the whole point of todays gibberish, moolah!
I hear parents quite often telling their children, “Look at some so and so’s son he’s taken up computers and now is working in a big banner M.N.C. and you? you are here painting meadows! Ughh!”
I can only laugh at such people, just for fun, imagine a world where every single person was either a lawyer or a doctor or a software nerd on the line giving tech support? who would then be a firefighter?
Not once have I heard someone say, son! you are good at making idols go be a sculptor.
Kids nowadays have moved of to being couch potatoes. Its the summer holidays that freak me out. If playgrounds were alive they would go complaining how ignored they feel, times have changed. there was a time when a dog was man best friend, these days its an android. This eventually leads to a big lifestyle change when these “couch-potatoes” grow up. To a guy that loves to sit, a job to sit in font of a computer screen will ever be so lucrative, they grow into trees that can give away anything and everything for their social status, the guys end up being abusive husbands and the girls grow into career oriented slapsticks that toss their kids to a babysitter. (prove me wrong here) all the frustration of their corporate lives comes out when the working parents come back home.
You might wonder what has that got to do with all of this? I say everything.
The youth today is bedazzled with the lifestyle the “employees” get to live. The way they go shopping and partying every weekend, they way these “suited corporate kuttas” swipe cards at every drop of a hat. What they fail to see is the debts these employees have and the impending EMI’s of their credit cards. The corporate world has taken the generation in to a vicious circle. You earn, you spend, you spend more than you earn, you get debts, you get debts but you can’t quit, for you have put up a social image of yourself that you cant afford to tarnish! Plus you might loose an opportunity to go abroad “courtesy of your company”, in days to come!! Boy you’ve gotta let go! Do what pleases you no one cares about how much you spend and show off.
Because even if you don’t no one will ever notice.
To wrap up;
Every career is as marvelous to pursue. Not one bit of knowledge ever goes for waste.
At any point in life if you feel, I am not happy or satisfied with whatever it is that I do? Stop! and walk out! Your dreams will never let you down.
And most importantly, If ever you feel all hope is lost, look around, there’s always a way out of every problem.
